Five Empty Words

We often utter in the silence And in the noise of life— Tomorrow. I’ll do it tomorrow. I’ll see it tomorrow, I’ll say it tomorrow. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. But what if there is no tomorrow? No goodbyes, or good mornings; No more glimpses of the world; No more chances, or words to be uttered. Just the echoing reminder Of empty promises, And five empty words remain. We are often told There is no promise of tomorrow. And I fear that bearing true, Each and every day. So live. Live today, And embrace all that life Has to offer, now. Live for the next moment, Not the next day. For you never can know, What tomorrow will truly bring.
